The ultimate wing for freestyle and wave riding!

Presentation

The Droid remains the benchmark in surf-freestyle, combining compactness, acceleration, and extreme maneuverability.

Thanks to these qualities, it has earned World Championship titles with Clément in Surf-Freestyle and with Malo in Race. Always at the forefront of international competitions, it is built for pure performance.

The new shape, inherited from the Team Series collection, brings even more power and fluidity in rotation, making it an essential wing for executing the most technical moves. Freestyle, freeride, wave riding, freefly, or race/slalom, the Droid can do it all with rare versatility.

Its DNA is simple: to allow you to execute combos, land 1080s, and send massive frontflips or backflips, all while staying light and precise in the waves. More responsive than most wings, it gives an immediate feeling of propulsion and acceleration: a real catapult.

Its optimized profile, both hollow and taut, provides excellent power and ideal control to relaunch after a move, a crash, or between waves. This allows you to use a smaller wing, increasing your radicality and possibilities while riding.

Not only is the Droid unbeatable in big air, but it also performs excellently in light wind with fluid and effective pumping. It stays stable and quick, without ever…

GONG | Droid Wing

Shape

The distribution of the leading edge is very even, maintaining a short section at the center, which makes the wing very rigid in this area. This consistency ensures perfect twist control, which gradually increases toward the tips. The center of the wing pulls, while the tips absorb gusts, providing complete control.

The new tip segmentation, with 6 additional segments, results in a smoother behavior and reduces the impact of touches, allowing the wing to glide over the water.

The Droid features a compact outline. Its new, lower ratio provides increased maneuverability and impressive performance. It takes off quickly, accelerates with strong forward traction, and is highly radical in moves thanks to its compact shape that reduces bulk.

This low aspect ratio makes pumping very easy and intuitive by lifting the tips away from the water.

The leading edge has been re-segmented for increased smoothness, better rotation, and a lighter feel.

The new, more curved leading edge has been moved further back to enhance maneuverability

The leading edge arc releases the Droid, enabling it to shift orientation with ease, particularly when steered with the downwind/surf handle.

The wing can be effortlessly reoriented with minimal pressure. It provides extremely smooth, fine control. This is true on reaches, particularly upwind, but especially when surfing with the wing in hand. It places itself exactly as you direct it, in the blink of an eye.

This curve adds tolerance to this powerful shape by enhancing its rotation capabilities.

The twist of the tips is low but sufficient to release any excess power and convert it into glide.

The new segmentation allows for fine-tuning this twist.

The progressive reduction of the leading edge allows the Droid to breathe.

The hollow profile is optimized for maximum lift and acceleration during jumps.

You immediately feel pulled forward. No need to be overpowered to accelerate rapidly. With the Droid, the zero to a hundred happens in two seconds!

It remains well-calibrated and perfectly positioned to avoid limiting maneuverability and responsiveness. It simply supports a compact DNA that concentrates energy to boost your rides.

The Droid retains its magical Z-shaped central strut, but with a thinner diameter.

The panels are cut perpendicular to the strut for greater strength under high pressure.

The connection with the central segments of the leading edge is solid.

The middle third is built to resist flexing in hand, as flexing here would create the major part of the canopy’s opening. This ensures the wing stays even more taut, delivering increased power and precision.

Finally, the rear third of the strut is sewn directly onto the canopy without a hollow panel, which increases the strut’s thickness near the rear hand and provides greater resistance to deformation under wind pressure. The strut is thus twice as rigid, ensuring consistent shape during jumps or gusts.

The rear hand has a direct influence on the canopy’s trailing edge thanks to the positioning of the rear handle point just after the beginning of the wide cone. Pulling on the rear hand closes the strut, preventing it from opening as with traditional struts.

This setup minimizes flap and delivers remarkable power. The added rigidity enables fine control of the wing and ensures consistent behavior.

One wing, 3 handles systems

This wing is equipped with our ingenious GFS feature (GONG Fastening System) of interchangeable handles, allowing you to change the handles according to your preferences and your program, as well as according to the conditions.

With just two turns of a key, you can upgrade your wing based on your needs, switching from your handles supplied with your wing (textile on Plus, rigid on Neutra and Droid) to the other handles or our carbon boom.

A true innovation designed to enhance your experience, enabling you to adapt your wing to your skill level, your sensations, and the type of session.

Supplied with rigid handles as standard.

Your wing comes with a set of rigid carbon handles.

Made with a 100% carbon prepreg tube, this handle is built to last. We’ve had absolutely no breakages since its launch.

Every detail of this essential part has been meticulously designed, with structural analysis to guarantee worry-free rides.

At GONG, quality and reliability are central to our design philosophy.

The rear handle is larger to adjust the placement of your hand. Its longitudinal seams provide the rigidity that has made our downwind handles so successful.

The integrated GFS system allows you to upgrade your wing with a boom or textile handles, adapting your wing to your level or program.

Best wing for beginners New GFS V2 system

This year, we’ve further refined our GFS system to make it even better.

The new geometries of the new handle support and the updated elbows bring noticeable improvements:

  • Less play, providing a firmer and more direct contact for better wing control
  • 150 grams lighter for the handle set and a 40-gram weight saving on the boom
  • Zero rotation of the part assemblies for zero wear
  • Assembly remains simple and easy with your Torx 30 foil key

And the cherry on top, everything is fully compatible with the GFS V1 system. Your current boom is perfectly adaptable to a 2025 wing without needing to buy new parts. A 2025 boom will be fully compatible with 2023-2024 wings as long as you use the V2 handle support.Best wing for beginners

In short, always pair the handle support corresponding to your boom or handle.

Shape Evolution: Segmentation

In this version of the Droid, we have significantly refined several aspects of the shape.

The re-segmentation, with the addition of six sections mainly on the tips, enhances maneuverability and glide through the air. It spins faster. This also allows the wing to roll better on the water during challenging trick landings.

The tips are more progressive, providing a wing with a more forgiving feel and reducing the ON/OFF sensation.

Shape evolution: Outline

In this version of the Droid, we have significantly refined several aspects of the shape.

The leading edge has been curved backward to reduce the surface area at the tips and to center the wing’s power.

This results in a much lighter feel and accelerates rotation during maneuvers and tricks.

Perf Series Wings Technology

Our wings are manufactured in our factory, one of the two biggest kite and wing factories in the world, built to our quality standards to produce the best wings.

Each wing is constructed with meticulous attention to detail. The panels are precisely cut using CNC technology. Strategic reinforcements are sewn together by robotic sewing machines, ensuring perfect assembly even in large quantities. The final sealing is done by hand, carried out by top-tier professionals in the kite industry. Lastly, each wing goes through rigorous quality control, including a 24-hour inflation test.

The materials we use for our wings are some of the finest available. While performance is our primary focus, we also prioritize durability, reparability, and the use of proven materials that have stood the test of time.

  • Leading edge and strut made from very rigid and durable DP175LL Dacron.
  • High-end triple Ripstop canopy with tear-resistant properties, 54g/m².
  • Insigna reinforcements on all seams for enhanced durability.
  • Tips Saver in 1680D Nylon to prevent wear from friction on the tips.
  • Kevlar reinforcements under the handle/boom attachments on the strut.
  • 80-micron thick TPU bladders reinforced with TPU, specially developed TPU for modern wings with integrated booms.
  • One Pump system for quick inflation and deflation.
